GCG plc (‘GCG’) operates this Privacy Policy (and its various websites (‘Site(s)’) of which this is one) in order to compliment its position as a trusted adviser to business, to ensure it upholds and maintains visitors' rights to privacy in the online environment and to comply with data protection legislation. GCG wishes to provide a secure and safe user experience and to explain how GCG will use and reserve your rights in relation to any personal data which you may send or provide to GCG through this or other GCG Sites.

1)    Data Collection and Purpose

GCG will only collect and use personal data that is voluntarily provided by visitors to its Sites or otherwise. Visitors are able to browse this GCG Site without disclosing any personal information. GCG will not collect or use information from other sources such as public bodies or private organisations. A visitor to a Site may choose to provide GCG with limited personal data as required in order to register for certain services, such as name, address, telephone numbers, email address and other demographic information. In each case, it is indicated on the Site whether data needs to be provided in order to use a particular GCG service; and once registered the information will only be used for the specified service(s).

  • Register for events and conferences

GCG also gathers certain personal information about your particular use of a Site, which part you visit and what services you review or apply to use. In addition, in doing this GCG may gather information about your computer (such as your IP address, browser, and access times) which is or is not linked to your personal information.

2)    Use of data collected

By voluntarily providing GCG with any of your information you agree you are consenting to GCG’s use of it in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use (or other terms applying) of the particular site concerned.  Such agreed use includes without limitation, GCG determining whether to send you, and in sending you, various emails or other communications about any of GCG’s products or services. For the avoidance of doubt, unless you unsubscribe or notify GCG otherwise, you agree GCG can use your contact information to send you various GCG updates and news communications.

GCG uses the data it collects for the purpose of managing its provision of services to those who are using or who have registered with a Site, for administering and managing your relationship with GCG, responding to any of your questions and delivering products and services to you and other GCG clients and candidates.

If you use a Site and compile and send to GCG a CV for GCG’s databases, then GCG strongly advises you not to include information relating to such matters as your racial or ethnic origin, your political or trade union beliefs, your religious beliefs, your health, age or other similar matters. At the same time, you realise that GCG or its clients need accuracy of relevant information which is required or legitimately able to be disclosed.

In each Site or communication, you will be given the opportunity to opt out or unsubscribe from receiving further such communications. This is in addition to your right generally and under the registration to any GCG services to withdraw and unsubscribe by giving express written notice to GCG at Wrest House, Wrest Park, Silsoe, Bedfordshire, MK45 4HS.

3)    Disclosure to Third Parties

We will not disclose to third parties your personal information or your use of a Site except as described below:-

  • Where it is clear that it is a part of the Site’s service (e.g. send CVs to recruiters)
  • Where the transfer is necessary to fulfil your request and involves a third party organisation with which GCG has a relationship and which is a data processor (including those outside the European Economic Area)
  • Where you consent to such disclosure (including as described in all Site terms, registrations or otherwise)
  • In order to fulfil your request which involves other GCG brands
  • Where a third party acquires part or all of GCG’s business, whether such acquisition is by way of share sale, substantial asset sale, merger, joint venture, takeover or otherwise
  • As required by a court order, governmental or regulatory authority
  • As GCG reasonably considers necessary to enable GCG to comply with legal requirements, prevent a crime or protect the personal safety of users or the public

GCG does not collect or compile personal data or information obtained by its Sites for dissemination or sale to outside parties for consumer marketing purposes or host mailings on behalf of third parties.

4)     Data Amendments and Retention

Information collected from visitors to the Sites will only be kept in order to provide the required service. Once the service has been completed all information will be treated in accordance with GCG’s data retention policies. As we need to keep the information accurate and up to date, please assist GCG by ensuring that you inform us about any changes to your information.

Please note that you have the right to request details of the information GCG holds about you and to delete or rectify any inaccurate information about you by sending GCG a written request to GCG at Wrest House, Wrest Park, Silsoe, Bedfordshire, MK45 4HS, GCG’s registered office.

5)   Cookies

Cookies are text files which may be saved in your computers memory temporarily or placed on the hard drive and they save a small amount of personal information. The Sites do include some cookies. They are used to save various details you input, what you are looking for etc, and facilitate easy access and speedy movement through the Site with recommendations which may be pertinent to you by retrieving previous data you have given. If you wish to decline the cookies than you should be able to set your browser setting to decline all cookies.

6)    Security

GCG has implemented accepted standards of technical measures and security policies that protect the personal data it has under its control from:

  • Unauthorised access
  • Improper use or disclosure
  • Unauthorised modification
  • Unlawful destruction or accidental loss.
  • All account data is encrypted but as the worldwide internet is an open system, GCG cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never gain access by defeating GCG’s precautions and security methods and use your personal information.

GCG attempts to limit access to its searchable databases on various of the Sites to certain vetted and GCG approved third parties on an anonymous non-attributable basis until you have given consent to release such information in a particular case. However, GCG cannot guarantee that somehow and against GCG’s consent, others may not gain access . Where you have given consent, such third party may retain or use that information in a manner beyond the control of GCG and so GCG cannot be held liable or responsible in any way for what authorized recipients (and those who are unauthorized) may do with such data.

GCG is not responsible for the privacy policies of such other web sites to which you choose to visit or link from this Site.
